Michael is a principal at Oliver Wyman’s Houston office, specializing in Climate and Sustainability.

His work primarily spans the Energy and Natural Resources and Financial Services Practices, supporting clients on new strategies, commercial models, and products that reduce emissions, bolster climate resilience, and improve equity and outcomes for communities. He also works on Oliver Wyman’s own commitment to net zero, from early efforts to procure carbon offsets to current efforts to reduce emissions and partner with carbon removal-focused organizations.

With a background in mechanical engineering, Michael moved into the environmental and climate policy space, gaining experience at both RMI and the Environmental Defense Fund. He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in French, with professional experience across multiple continents.

Throughout his years working in climate and sustainability, Michael has observed a shift in his efforts. The focus has moved from making the case for ‘why to act’ to assisting companies in figuring out ‘how to act.’

Michael believes that once the ambition for sustainability is clear, the challenge becomes more technical, economic, and relational. The key questions he addresses are: How can a company transition to net zero? How can they finance it? What assets or products do they need to embrace or abandon? Who are the stakeholders they need to involve? He finds this work challenging, but also highly collaborative and rewarding.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys a fit, active, and balanced lifestyle. He loves spending time outdoors, exploring new places (in Houston, and beyond), and eating great food.
