4 reasons why next-generation credits are redefining nature-based carbon markets
The nature-based carbon market has matured dramatically over the past five years – next-generation projects are delivering measurable results
As Founder and Executive Director of the Symbiosis Coalition, Julia leads the advance market commitment by Google, Microsoft, Meta, Salesforce, Mckinsey, Bain, and REI to catalyze the next generation of high-integrity nature-based carbon removal projects that companies and the world need to meet ambitious climate goals. The Coalition aggregates demand from its corporate members, sets clear science-based criteria to identify and evaluate projects, and translates that demand for those quality-aligned projects into offtake agreements needed to unlock the institutional capital needed for scale.
Julia’s career spans the nonprofit, public, and private sectors, with the aim of mobilizing finance to accelerate impact at the intersection of people, nature, and climate. Her experience includes The Nature Conservancy, the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research, Blue Forest, New Forests, and ZOMALAB’s Climate and Nature Finance Collaborative.
Julia holds an MBA and MS in Environment and Resources from Stanford University and a BA in Environmental Studies from Yale University.
